Day 2!

Hi blog readers! February 28th marks the second day in Bali and it has been absolutely amazing. Today started off with a nice walk on the beach after breakfast with the weather staying perfect. The jet lag seemed to wear off everyone and we all seemed really excited about having our first full class of music and dance. Dillion and Olivia actually woke up to the sound of Carrie Clark knocking on their door since their alarm clock wasn’t working. The class consisted of some practicing of the rhythms that we were taught yesterday during the introduction ceremony along with cultural background history on Bali and some very intricate dancing. Most of us thought that it would be easy, but we were quickly proved wrong when the teacher wanted us to move just our chins and keep our elbows up the entire time! I give every Balinese dancer so much respect, because it is not an easy thing to do! After class we were given the chance to do something things that we were interested in. Many people were relaxing by the pool and trying to soak up as much sun as they could, some ending up with lobster read skin! Jack finally fulfilled his dream of going surfing, and Basil and Gabby went for intense run on the beach along with a workout. To add a personal note, this trip has been such an awesome experience, I got to make friends with people that I never knew, yet we all go the same school. We all just finished up with dinner and now some people are about to go take a quick dip in the pool, I on the other hand am going to catch some zz's! Good night from Bali and good morning to you all in New York that may be reading this!
